Synopsis

The study aimed to determine the factors that affect students' performance in Mathematics II of the Second Year High Schools.The student-related factors considered in this study are: family size, residence while studying, parent's occupation, media exposure, study habits and attitudes towards masthematics.The population of the study is composed of 576 second year students in selected secondary schools of Abra. The decriptive-correlation method of research was used.There is no significant difference in the level of performance of student-respondent in Mathematics II whether they come from among the identified secondary schools in the study. No significant relationship exist in the level of performance of student-respondents and teacher- related factors except in the variable on the "Area of Specialization" of teachers. There is a significant relationship between the students' level of performance and parent's occupation and residence while studying. Based from the findings, it is recommended that the teachers should strengthen the concept where the students are weak.Teachers should be updated on the current trends and issues on the teaching of mathematics.
