The study carried on was very informative and practical and we should make sure before using vegetables either is it grown from clean water or waste water. Always ask your grocery sale person. The present research was taken with an aim to study the different concentrations of heavy metals (Cadmium, Chromium) and trace elements (Iron, Manganese) accumulation in root, shoot and leaves of two-month old plant treated daily with contaminated water taken from gandha nala of Lahore city and its adverse effect up to certain level for human health by the intake of contaminated vegetables. The results indicated that gandha nala water is not useful for irrigation of crops as it contains heavy metal contents. Plants irrigated by this water had high metal contents proposed by Joint FAO/WHO. To reduce the health risk and the extent of heavy metal contamination, steps must be taken for efficient treatment of sewage. Regular monitoring of heavy metals in the vegetables grown in waste water irrigated areas is also necessary. Intake of vegetables is an important path of heavy metal toxicity to human being.
