The feature sets considered  for the work consists of Structural and Statistical features, Normalized binary pixel images, Direction code based features, Gradient based features etc. For recognition, two categories of classifiers, viz., Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Modified Quadratic Discriminant Function (MQDF) based classifiers have been selectively tested here and detailed results are presented.

Kaushik Roy, Reader, WBSU, obtained his Ph.D from Jadavpur University in Comp Sc. & Engg. He has published over Forty two papers in International Journals and Conferences in the area of document processing. He was champion in the National Competition for Young IT Professional Awards 2004, conferred by the Computer Society of India.
