Improved practices aimed at sustainable management of upland soils in the hills area have been suggested by the agriculture and natural resource management experts. However, before recommending the practices for the adoption it is imperative to understand various factors that may influence the adoption of such practices. Moreover, it is equally necessary to understand the basic features of such practices. This book gives an overview of some of the potential improved soil management practices and highlights the factors that may affect the adoption of such practices by the farmers based on the case of Nepal.
