Use of bio control agents in managing other plant disease impressed to test its efficacy in managing the leaf blight disease in sunflower both under laboratory and field condition. The biocontrol agents and plant extracts avoid all inherent ill effects viz., environmental pollution, residualtoxicity, development of resistance by pathogen, cost ineffectiveness etc., caused by continuous use of chemicals for disease management. The use of biological agents for the control of plant diseases is a alternative method to chemical control.

Ahila Devi, Ph.D(Plant Pathology): The author has completed her graduation in Adhiparasakthi Agricultural college, Kalavai,Master degree programme in Agricultural college and Research Institute, Madurai and Doctor of Philosophy in Tamil Nadu Agricultural institute, Coimbatore-3. She worked as senior research fellow in Dept of Plant Pathology.
