The city which is at the shores of Lake Victoria is thretened by waste pollution and other pollutants including the water hyacinth. It is hoped that as solutions for plastic waste in many countries are being sought, this book will be found invaluable as a refrence tool for policy makers, scholars and even administrators of waste managemnet in local authorities. Fear of the perceived and dangers of waste, have precluded society from making changes in the waste stream but the informal sector becomes handy for their role in recovery.

Evans M. Gichana was born in 1969 at Marani Village, Kisii, Kenya. He holds an MSc. in Urban Environmental Planning and management from Maseno University, Kenya and a Bed (Arts) from University of Nairobi. Mr. Gichana is a lead expert in (EIA) registered by NEMA-KENYA. He is currently, a Dphil student in Urban planning at Moi University, Kenya.
