Synopsis

Cephalofacial anthropometry is the branch of anthropometry that measures the head and face. This comparative study was carried out to document the normative values for inner and outer intercanthal distance, interpupillary distance, head circumference and canthal index in Igbo and Ijaw ethnic groups of Nigeria between 3-42years. A total number of four thousand (4000) subjects comprising two thousand subjects from Igbo (1000 males and 1000 females) and two thousand subjects from Ijaw (1000 males and 1000 females) were selected for this study. Measurements of these parameters were carried out using a digital vernier caliper, non stretchable plastic ruler and a measuring tape.

Biographie de l'auteur

Dr. Osunwoke Emeka A. was born on the 2nd of March, 1975. He holds a bachelor’s degree and PhD in Anatomy from the University of Port Harcourt. He also holds an M.sc Degree in Anatomy from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is a lecturer II in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences,University of Port harcourt
