Synopsis

The Information, Education and Communication (IEC) strategy for conservation of the Eastern Arc Mountains Forest (CMEAMF) in Tanzania aims at raising the level of awareness and knowledge on the importance of forests, thereby promoting behaviour change and positive attitude toward forest conservation. IEC strategy activities were piloted in four villages surrounding Mafwomero Forest Reserve, in Mpwapwa District. Has the community knowledge, attititude and behaviour toward forest conservation changed? To what extent have different stakeholders participated in the IEC activities?

Shukuru Lukelo Nyagawa is working with the Institute of Resource Assessment of the University of Dar Es Salaam. She is a graduate in Masters of Science in Natural Resources Assessment and Management from the University of Dar es Salaam.
