L'�tude visait � analyser la tendance des caract�ristiques d�mographiques et socio-�conomiques de la main-d'œuvre �gyptienne 1976-1996. Des mesures de l'emploi, du ch�mage et de la perte d'ann�es actives dues au ch�mage r�vis�es par la productivit� et l'argent ont �t� estim�es. La projection de l'offre et de la demande de la main-d'œuvre �gyptienne jusqu'en 2026 a �t� incluse. L'�tude a indiqu� que les changements dans la taille de la population ont le plus grand impact sur l'augmentation de la taille de la population active. De faibles taux d'activit� de la main-d'œuvre f�minine ont �t� observ�s. Le fardeau du ch�mage a augment� au cours de la p�riode d'�tude. Le taux de ch�mage chez les femmes �tait d'environ trois fois sup�rieur � celui des hommes. Aux niveaux actuels de mortalit� et d'activit�, un travail �gyptien dans le premier groupe d'�ge de la vie active (15-19 ans) devrait rester en vie en moyenne pendant 54 ans suppl�mentaires, de ces ann�es, la dur�e de vie �conomique moyenne �tait estim�e � 41 ans ; 39 ans en moyenne de la vie active ; et 2 ans en moyenne de la vie au ch�mage. Au niveau actuel du taux de ch�mage (9,3 %), la cohorte actuelle de travailleurs �gyptiens perd environ 10,6 millions d'ann�es �conomiquement actives, ce qui repr�sente environ 149 milliards de LE.
