L'étude visait à analyser la tendance des caractéristiques démographiques et socio-économiques de la main-d'œuvre égyptienne 1976-1996. Des mesures de l'emploi, du chômage et de la perte d'années actives dues au chômage révisées par la productivité et l'argent ont été estimées. La projection de l'offre et de la demande de la main-d'œuvre égyptienne jusqu'en 2026 a été incluse. L'étude a indiqué que les changements dans la taille de la population ont le plus grand impact sur l'augmentation de la taille de la population active. De faibles taux d'activité de la main-d'œuvre féminine ont été observés. Le fardeau du chômage a augmenté au cours de la période d'étude. Le taux de chômage chez les femmes était d'environ trois fois supérieur à celui des hommes. Aux niveaux actuels de mortalité et d'activité, un travail égyptien dans le premier groupe d'âge de la vie active (15-19 ans) devrait rester en vie en moyenne pendant 54 ans supplémentaires, de ces années, la durée de vie économique moyenne était estimée à 41 ans ; 39 ans en moyenne de la vie active ; et 2 ans en moyenne de la vie au chômage. Au niveau actuel du taux de chômage (9,3 %), la cohorte actuelle de travailleurs égyptiens perd environ 10,6 millions d'années économiquement actives, ce qui représente environ 149 milliards de LE.
