Watershed management is a multidisciplinary approach for rational utilization of natural resources existing in the watershed for optimum and sustained production with minimum hazards to natural resources and environment. It requires collection and analysis of a great deal of information on physical relationship of vegetation, soil, water to land management, which would ensure socio-economic progress of a region. It essentially relates to scientific management of resources, protection of land against all forms of degradation, enhancement and maintenance of soil fertility, conservation of water for watershed use, improvement of productivity under all types of land uses, agriculture and sustenance of animals as well as people within a physiographic unit. This book is related to geo-environment status of a watershed. It deals with morphometric analysis to identify the suitable sites for natural resource conservation. Topographical sheets, satellite image and field observation are used to identify the various topographical features and the status of natural resources in watershed area. The guidelines in this book are intented as a reference for those working in the field of watershed.

Vipin Kumar (M.A., M.Sc, PhD) obtained his PhD from Department of Geography, M. D. University, Rohtak in 2008. He developed interest in Geomorphology, Environmental Geography and Morphometry in 2003’s when he joined in Ph.D programme. At present, He is working as Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Banasthali University (Rajasthan, India)
