Synopsis

People of every sort in India as well as abroad must be made to feel concerned about the growth and development of the mass communications. This is because their cannot be any significant economic development without the use of Media. You cannot increase agricultural yields, convince people about the need for family-planning, influence them to hold off from buying out to bring their crops into the market, without reaching them through radio, television & films or newspapers. The functions of the media are to informed, educate and entertained the public. Mass media are instruments of communications. They provide us with information readily and quickly. With the spread of the Media libraries are becoming the potential use of a medium. As the teaching-learning process focused move towards self-learning, the entire spectrum of instructional materials and media have undergone a through change. The use of Radio and TV is so successful because it is used extensively by all classes of people both educated and uneducated. Even the uneducated can be educated easily through this channel pictorially and with verbal conversation.

Dr. Akhtar Hussain is working as a Web Librarian, Civil Engineering Department King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He holds MLIS & Ph.D. (Library & Infor. Science) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. Mr. Devendra Kumar is working as a Librarian, Manyavar Kanshiram Government Degree College, Ghaziabad, U. P. India.
