Nearly one half of the population of our nation is women. They play a very crucial role in all walks of human life and they also contribute to national economy both in gross national product and gross domestic product.The main emphasis of the study is employment generation by using locally available resource in both agriculture and industrial sectors.For the purpose of the study, Madurai District in Tamilnadu, India was selected. In an attempt to find out the locally available resources for evolving a suitable plan for creating entrepreneurship and employment avenues for rural women.

The author is an expert in Regional planning, started his career as a university teacher and joined as training professional at Indian apex training institute having profession of capacity building of Rural development functionaries and elected representatives in India. He has published three books and around 25 articles in important journals.
