The work discusses different control strategies based on magnetic actuators applied to rotating machines. The first part is devoted to the vibration control obtained with Magnetic Dampers in different configurations: Active, Semiactive and Selfsensing Active Magnetic Damping. The design of the dampers and of the control laws is exposed. The second part deals with the levitation control based on Active Magnetic Bearings of a miniaturized gyroscope for automotive/aerospace applications. The design of a robust Hinf control and of a decentralized control is explained. Overall the book a detailed overview of technological advantantages and drawbacks of magnetic actuators in rotordynamics applications is exposed as well as an outlook of future developments and research lines.

Biographie de l'auteur

Dr. Angelo Bonfitto has obtained his PhD in Mechatronics in 2010. Currently he is a Researcher at Laboratory of Mechatronics of Politecnico di Torino (Italy). His interests are focused on Active Magnetic Bearings, Rotordynamics, Vibration damping and control. He is author of several papers for journals and international conferences.
