Synopsis

Undoubtedly, there is currently a greater awareness of environmental issues globally. A wave of the environmental consciousness and concern has swept across the developed and developing countries. Chemistry is exciting between the environment and living creature and is going on all around us. Presently, there is an ever increasing demand of such information and knowledge in the form of printed books which address all environmental issues. The present effort is one of them attempting to incorporate information on chemistry of the environment in relation to human beings in a concise manner. In addition to providing updated material in the rapidly developing area of environmental chemistry, this book emphasizes several major concepts that are providing essential to the practice in the area. Besides, the problems such as Freon and the ozone layer, acid rain, types of pollution and toxic effects of various gases and pesticides are also discussed. Although the book is designed for readers who have a good understanding of general chemistry and some knowledge of organic chemistry, it can also serve as resource materials for individuals who may not have a very good background in chemistry.

Biographie de l'auteur

Pawan Raj Shakya, M.Sc., M.A., M.S.: Studied Chemistry and Social Science at Tribhuvan University and Desert Environmental Studies at Ben-Gurion University, Israel. Presently, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Has over a dozen of scientific research articles published in different national and international journals.
