Pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum L.) commonly known as bajra, belongs to family poaceae and is an important kharif season, dual purpose crop of rainfed regions. Due to it's high tillering capacity, drought and heat tolerance, high dry matter production, faster growth rate and higher yield may encourage its utilization as forage crop in low rainfall areas. Author is PhD Scholar in the department of crop physiology, University of Agriculture, faisalabad. He is interested to work on food and forage crops growing under arid and semi arid regions. He is currently working on the abiotic stress physiology in plants especially under drought.
