Le phénomène des mini-maisons fascine autant que la conception d'une maison et est actuellement à la mode dans divers médias. Pourtant, l'intérêt pour cette forme architecturale est souvent superficiel, motivé par des fantasmes et des modes de vie. Cependant, en période de grands mouvements migratoires dus au changement climatique, aux conflits ou à la pauvreté et au manque de perspectives économiques, il existe une demande urgente pour de nouveaux types d'abris temporaires. Open House aborde le thème du logement temporaire dans l'architecture, l'art, le design et l'aide humanitaire. Dix-huit auteurs internationaux explorent les intentions derrière de telles constructions, leurs principes sous-jacents et le style de vie qu'elles véhiculent. Publié dans le cadre d'un projet de recherche de deux ans et d'une exposition en plein air du même titre à Genève à l'été 2022. Ensemble, le livre et l'exposition rassemblent une quarantaine de créations d'artistes, d'architectes, de designers, d'écoles d'architecture, de chercheurs institutions et organisations humanitaires.

Simon Lamunière is a curator based in Geneva and director of the Open House project and exhibition in 2021/22. His previous engagements include the Domaine du Muy (Le Muy, France, 2014-2016), the Neon Parallax (Geneva, 2006-2013), Art Unlimited art fair (Basel, 2000-2011), the 11th Swiss sculpture exhibition Utopics (Biel/Bienne, 2009), the documenta X website (1997), and the Centre pour l'Image contemporaine (Geneva, 1992-2004).
