•APERÇU SANS PRÉCÉDENT DANS LE TRAVAIL PRÉCOCE DU COUPLE •CARACTÉRISTIQUES D'IMAGES D'ARCHIVES ET DE PHOTOS DE L'OEUVRE DES ARTISTES PUBLIÉES POUR LA PREMIÈRE FOIS •EXPOSITION AU CENTRE POMPIDOU, PARIS DU 18.03 AU 15.06.2020 Cet automne, Christo enveloppera l'Arc de Triomphe à Paris dans un tissu argenté pendant 16 jours, revenant à son style de signature - après avoir réalisé The Floating Piers en Italie, le London Mastaba et un quart de siècle après lui et Jeanne -Claude avaient enveloppé le bâtiment du Reichstag à Berlin. En prélude, une grande exposition au Palais Populaire dans la capitale allemande célébrera ce 25e anniversaire au printemps 2020. Parallèlement, le Centre Pompidou rendra hommage à Christo et Jeanne-Claude en mettant en scène l'exposition documentaire enveloppée du Pont Neuf comme ainsi qu'un spectacle complet mettant en lumière leurs premières années à Paris. Pour accompagner ces événements, Matthias Koddenberg, historien de l'art et ami de longue date de Christo et de sa défunte épouse et partenaire artistique Jeanne-Claude, a édité une collection élaborée d'interviews. Le livre est composé de nombreuses conversations tenues entre Koddenberg et Christo dans le studio de l'artiste de New York au cours des dernières années. Avec une franchise rare, Christo décrit comment il a fui la Bulgarie et s'est frayé un chemin dans le monde occidental. Il évoque son séjour à Vienne et à Genève, sa vie animée à Paris qui a été éprouvante et le moment fatidique où il a rencontré Jeanne-Claude.
