Synopsis

Peter Puklus belongs to the young generation of Hungarian photographers. The title of his work refers to the radius of one and a half meters that defines his immediate surroundings. The art photographer, born in 1980, says: "I collect portraits of the people who surround me. I document and depict those who are close to me in one way or another (I collect memories). Eventually I will have them all. Whether relatives or friends, the important thing is that the photo symbolizes my relationship with them, the relationship of the people in the photo with each other or the personal secret that the eye might reveal. I capture a moment whose magic lies in trust; intimacy and photography, in other words, the story of love, friendship and identity." Peter Puklus lives and works in Budapest. He recently received his PhD in photography from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest. He has participated in various solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe.

"Peter Puklus is an example of a modern documentary author. Questions of an involved or not involved view, an approach based on revealing beauty, or rather importance of daily, even banal things - all that was solved before. The generation of Puklus can now focus on the complexity of documentary work. Everything around can be a subject." Zuzana Lapitkova
