Synopsis
Tom Trevor describes his experience of coming face to face with Otto Zitko's expansive wall drawings as, "being swallowed up by a mind-blowing, intensely touching environment," which seems to directly confront the observer, "both physically and mentally with an all-encompassing subjective reality." The book Me, Myself and I documents three interventions by the artist at Premium Point, in Bucharest and Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum fur Gegenwart in Berlin in 2009, as well as for the exhibition "Me, Myself and I - Otto Zitko & Louise Bourgeois" at the Arnolfini, Bristol in 2010.

Text auch englisch. - Als kleiner Junge, noch im Vorschulalter, so Otto Zitko, sei er angeregt gewesen, jeden Tag seine Handschrift in einem Schreibheft zu üben. Besonders erinnert er sich an die angestrengte Konzentration bei den Versuchen, die Schleifen und Schwünge der Schreibschrift in einem steten Fluss biauer Tinte nachzuahmen. Freilich, so sehr er es auch versuchte, seine Bemühungen, die miteinander verbundenen Buchstaben inner-halb der schmalen Zeilen des linierten Schreibblocks zu halten, schlugen fehl. Jedes Mal, wenn er den Stift auf dem Papier ansetzte, begann seine Hand binnen Minuten freizügig zu kritzeln wie ein außer Kontrolle geratener Automat, bis am Ende das ganze Blatt von einem dichten Knäuel Linien bedeckt war. Der Drang, das weiße Papier ganz und gar zu füllen, war einfach unwiderstehlich. In vielerlei Hinsicht prägt dieser starke Widerstand gegen die Disziplin und Begrenztheit des geschriebenen Wortes Otto Zitkos künstlerische Praxis auch heute noch.
