Mono is conceived as a series of books that will be published twice a yea by Singapore-based Rebel One. Each publication will focus on an individual artist, designer, brand or product that has made a distinctive contribution to the creative industry. The debut issue of Mono features renowned design collective :phunk Studio, and is presented as a retrospective subtitled "A Decade of Decadence." Celebrating ten year's worth of creative collaboration and experimentation, it charts :phunk's ascent from freshly-graduated guerilla designers to one of the most sought-after creative outfits in the international design arena. The book includes work done by "Singapore's design ambassadors" for a diverse clientele that includes Diesel, MTV Asia Networks, Daimler Chrysler, Nike and 2K T-Shirts. It also features many collaborative projects done with both local and international creators - from lingerie to fine art. "A Decade of Decadence" tells the story of four friends who pretty much do everything together, from early projects such as the bubble-wrapped experimental 'zine Transmission01 (1995) and Trigger (1998) to the more recent book Transmission02: Utopia (2002) and exhibitions held in London and New York. More importantly, it encapsulates the group's unique and undying creative spirit as inspired by everything from contemporary culture and the arts to Chinese mythology and cult Kung Fu films.
