Gebraucht, aber sehr gut erhalten. - Plenary Sessions -- Workshop -- Symposia -- Oral Paper Sessions -- Poster Sessions. // In times of globalization, coping with intercultural conflicts and social inequality has become a major challenge for students, teachers and parents in educational settings. A cultural adjustment process usually includes some disorientation brought on by such things as being confused as to where the cultural boundaries are. Psychological research should contribute to bridge cultural differences by explaining intercultural stress and coping. Most existing research in the field is still limited to more explorative analyses of conflict categories and associated coping behavior trying to address the complexity of multinational education settings. Preliminary results will be presented in order to shed some light on quality and effects of intercultural stress and coping within the theoretical framework of the conservation of resources theory (COR theory, Hobfoll 1998, 2010). Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis in educational settings reported stress and coping behaviors could be classified within the COR model. In essence, the current studies provide first evidence that the multiaxial coping model may serve as a helpful framework not only to theoretically classify coping efforts with regard to intercultural Stressors at schools, but also to understand their efficacy in relation to the cultural profile of the sample of interest.
