November 1940) ist ein US-amerikanischer Fotograf. Er ist bekannt für seinen inszenierten Surrealismus und die Exposition des menschlichen Körpers. Während sie in Frankreich lebte, reiste Tress nach Japan, Afrika, Mexiko und in ganz Europa. Er beobachtete viele abgeschiedene Stämme und Kulturen und war fasziniert von den Rollen, die der Schamane der verschiedenen Gruppen von Menschen spielte. Die Kulturen, in die er eingeführt wurde, würden in seiner späteren Arbeit eine Rolle spielen. Tress verbrachte den Frühling und Sommer 1964 in San Francisco. Er dokumentierte die 1964 Republican National Convention, die Barry Goldwater nominierte, Bürgerrechtsdemonstrationen in getrennten Autohäusern in der Van Ness Avenue und die Welttournee der Beatles 1964. Tress machte über 900 Fotos, die später bis 2009 aufbewahrt wurden, als er einen Stapel Vintage-Drucke wiederentdeckte, während er das Anwesen seiner Schwester nach ihrem Tod organisierte. Die Arbeiten wurden anschließend im de Young Museum in San Francisco ausgestellt.
