This new collection of Sri Ramana’s teachings explores the transformative power of Sharanagati [Surrender] as the direct path to ultimate freedom.* Following the warm reception of the first two volumes — Aham Sphurana and Vichara — which brought readers into the living presence of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi and the vibrant spirit of the Ashram. Sharanagati turns with equal clarity to another foundational pillar of his teaching: Surrender. For Bhagavan, Surrender is not a sentiment but a direct, uncompromising way to dissolve the ego and rest in the natural peace of the Self. Drawing from rare dialogues and finely selected teachings and stories, this volume explores Surrender as both practice and fruition – how partial Surrender ripens into effortless, total letting-go; how trust in the Divine displaces anxiety and the sense of doership; and how Grace becomes unmistakably active when resistance ceases. Practical pointers illuminate what it means to ‘give up everything and keep quiet’, while addressing real questions of work, family, karma, and the seeming paradox of effort and non-doing. In the spirit of Bhagavan’s living wisdom, Sharanagati is an essential companion for seekers drawn to awakening through Surrender – an invitation to yield the mind into the Heart, abide as Silence, and discover that perfect peace is not attained but revealed, when nothing is held back and everything is given up in the spirit of Ananya Sharanagati – Absolute Surrender.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi is one of India’s greatest modern saints. He was born in what is now Tiruchuli, Tamil Nadu, India. In 1895 an attraction to the holy hill Arunachala was aroused in him, and in 1896, at the age of sixteen, he had a ‘death experience’ in which he became aware of his true ‘I’ or Self, which never dies. This resulted in a state of spiritual awakening, which he didn’t really understand at the beginning. Six weeks later he left his uncle’s home in Madurai and journeyed to Arunachala, taking up the role of a sannyasin. He remained there for the rest of his life. He soon attracted devotees and in later years an ashram grew up around him where visitors received spiritual instruction by sitting silently in his company and raising their concerns and questions. Since the 1930s his teachings have been popularised in the West, resulting in worldwide recognition as an enlightened being.
