Oldenburg, 1970; lives and works in Berlin) work with color achieves a distinctive intermediate state between physical presence and atmospheric radiance. She stages painting now as a performative action with broad propositions in color, now as an installation in three dimensions with multilayered translucent painted panels. Color Light Matter Mind is Staeglich's first monograph, setting recent works in relation to her earlier output (1998- 2021). From the spiral-shaped reliefs to her Liquid Lights, the artist opens up a fresh dimension for color. Nicola Staeglich studied at the Stä delschule, Frankfurt, the Academy of Fine Arts Mainz, and the Chelsea College of Art, London. She won numerous fellowships and has been professor of painting/graphic art at the Hochschule der bildenden Kü nste Essen since 2015. Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions in Germany and abroad and is held by private and public collections.

Ulrich Loock was born in Braunschweig in 1953, studied at the Karlsruhe Art Academy with Wilhelm Loth from 1972 to 1974, then at the Dü sseldorf Art Academy with Klaus Rinke until 1979, and received his doctorate from the Ruhr University in Bochum in 1984. Ursula Strö bele is a research associate at the Central Institute for Art History in Munich, where she heads the Study Center for Modern and Contemporary Art. Susanne Prinz is an art historian specializing in contemporary art and art in public space. Terry R. Myers is a writer and independent curator based in Los Angeles, and an editor-at-large of the Brooklyn Rail. He is the author of Mary Heilmann: Save the Last Dance for Me (2007) and the editor of Painting: Documents of Contemporary Art (2011). Jette Rudolph is a gallery owner from Berlin, Germany. Galerie Feldbusch Wiesner Rudolph is an art gallery in Berlin, Germany. John C. Welchman is Distinguished Professor of Art History, University of California, and author of Modernism Relocated (1995); Invisible Colours (1997); Art After Appropriation (2001); Guillaume Bijl (2016); Past Realization (2016); After the Wagnerian Bouillabaisse (2019); and Richard Jackson (2020). Ludwig Seyfarth is an art historian, author and curator living in Berlin. Nicola Stä glich (* 1970 in Oldenburg) is a German artist working internationally. Ingo Arend, political scientist and historian, has been working since 1990 as a cultural journalist and essayist for visual arts, literature and political feature pages. David Ryan - a visual artist, writer and contemporary musician based in London.
