This book offers a collection of materials prepared for presentations which, when held up against the final form the advertisement takes, may seem lacking in some way. In some cases materials are created for the purposes of comparison, to help have a proposal accepted. Other times, the idea's going to be a winner from the start. So what is to be used for the presentation depends very much on the circumstances at the time. Of course different approaches are needed according to whether the proposal will be easy or difficult to grasp. To make sure the client is fully sold on the ideas put forward, everything has to be carefully explained. The various sketches and comps shown in this book together with the completed artwork should certainly help readers to imagine how this works. It represents for the designer, though, a struggle through the choppy seas of the design process before finally arriving at what for him or her is the best possible solution. Presentations are simply a way-station in that process, providing an opportunity for communication with the client to discuss progress and decide the final form of the ad.
