The part played therein by the Islamic Culture Area is highlighted here by means of historical instruments, tools and devices. Yet one should not lose sight of the fact that Muslims did not create these from scratch, but they adopted at first the inheritance of the preceding cultures, above all, that of the Greeks and the early Byzantines, and then developed this inheritance further. To a large extent, the exhibits displayed here are original inventions from the period extending from the ninth to the sixteenth century CE, a period in which Muslims themselves were creatively active.
