Gary Jennings nació en Buena Vista (Virginia), Estados Unidos, en 1928. Después de trabajar varios años en publicidad, como periodista y corresponsal en Corea, y finalmente como director de una revista, se dedicó a la creación literaria. En 1962 apareció su primer libro, y a partir de entonces publicó numerosas novelas y ensayos, al tiempo que colaboraba con artículos y narraciones en diversas revistas.

Conocido por su rigor y la meticulosidad de sus investigaciones, en sus novelas reconstruyó de forma magistral el mundo de los aztecas en los años en los que, ante el embate de los conquistadores españoles, sufrió una sacudida de la que ya no pudo recuperarse. Entre su obra destacan Azteca, Otoño azteca, Sangre azteca, Furia azteca, El viajero, Lentejuelas y Halcón. Falleció el 13 de febrero de 1999.

Gary Jennings was born in Buena Vista, Virginia, United States, in 1928. After working for several years in advertising, as a journalist and correspondent in Korea, and finally as a magazine editor, he dedicated himself to literary creation. His first book appeared in 1962, and from then on he published numerous novels and essays, while also contributing articles and stories to various magazines.

Known for his rigor and meticulous research, his novels masterfully reconstructed the world of the Aztecs during the years when, under the onslaught of the Spanish conquerors, they suffered a shock from which they could not recover. Among his works are Aztec, Aztec Autumn, Aztec Blood, Aztec Rage, The Journeyer, Spangle, and Raptor. He passed away on February 13, 1999.
