Synopsis

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) is one of the six detector experiments being constructed at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The other five are: ATLAS, CMS, TOTEM, LHCb, and LHCf. ALICE is optimized to study heavy ion collisions. Pb-Pb nuclei collisions will be studied at a centre of mass energy of 2.76 TeV per nucleon. The resulting temperature and energy density are expected to be large enough to generate a quark- gluon plasma, a state of matter wherein quarks and gluons are deconfined.
