Cats heterozygous for this gene have abnormal tails, butunlike the Manx cat there are no associated skeletal disorders and thegene is not associated with lethality.M = Manx gene (dominant). Catswith the homozygous genotype (MM) die before birth, and stillbornkittens show gross abnormalities of the central nervous system. Catswith the heterozygous genotype (Mm) show severely shortened tail lengthranging from taillessness to a partial, stumpy tail.
