The study was carried out to determine the levels of radioactivity concentrations in soil samples of the Edirne city in Turkey and associated with potential radiological hazards via Chernobyl event. The soil samples were collected and prepared to analyze according to the related regulations as carefully. Determination of the activity of ((232)Th, (226)Ra, and (40)K) in soil samples obtained by gamma ray spectrometer. Natural beta activities were also observed for the same samples and compared with the Turkey’s and many of the other countries radioactivity levels. With this study it was obtained that levels of the natural radioactivity in the area of Edirne are not caused the harmful effects upon the inhabitants and environment.
