Synopsis
This paper proposes a novel methodology for interdisciplinary management of construction projects by integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) to Lean philosophy. First, the study presents a qualitative bibliographic review of BIM and Lean methods and tools. Afterwards, the research describes the Digital Obeya Room model for continuous improvement of construction management. Lastly, the work presents four empirical studies within production planning and control of industrial construction projects that evaluate the benefits of the new methodology. This paper contributes to predictability in planning, improved integration among stakeholders, and the increased usage of Lean and BIM for continuous improvement of engineering management.

Daniel Luiz de Mattos Nascimento. Is currently PhD Candidate in Sustainable Management Systems at Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and Engineering Consultant at Tecgraf Institute / PUC-Rio since 2015. Master of Science in Industrial Construction (Mechanical Engineering) at UFF. Graduated in Production Engineering and Black Belt in Six Sigma.
