Synopsis
Le mot Disciple en grec est translittéré mathètes (littéralement, l'apprenant) et est dérivé du verbe manthano qui signifie « apprendre ». Cela signifie « celui qui apprend l'instruction d'un autre », ou un disciple est comparé à un apprenti qui apprend de son maître commerçant. Ainsi, un disciple est une personne qui non seulement acquiert des connaissances de l'enseignant, mais agit également sur elle. Un disciple suit donc et un disciple apprend de l'Enseignant. Le disciple ne remplace jamais le seul vrai Maître, ni prend le rôle de l'enseignant. Jésus reste notre Maître et notre Seigneur.
