Synopsis

Many factors pose as challenges to the effective growth and development of the body of Christ, otherwise known as the church, especially in the modern day world. Much of past research reveals that most of these factors are integrated into one major factor referred to as pastoral leadership, which is deeply rooted on the relationship between the pastor, the church elders and the congregation among others. Challenges facing pastoral leadership are therefore by extension problems inhibiting growth of the church. The purpose of this study is to shed light on some of these problems, providing the much needed insight and subsequent advice to those pastors serving the churches. Through a vast and careful review of existing literature on the subject matter, this study seeks to examine recurrent leadership problems that continue to press church pastors, thereby inferring and recommending on the appropriate interventions in light of these challenges.
