Synopsis
La tuberculose est un fardeau émergent pour la santé publique, avec un traitement coûteux. Lorsque un traitement inadéquat et une mauvaise adhérence sont associés à la tuberculose primaire, des bacilles tuberculeux résistants aux médicaments de première intention apparaissent. La résistance combinée à l'isoniazide et à la rifampicine, ici appelée tuberculose multirésistante (MDR-TB). La tuberculose MDR est en train de se développer depuis les années 1990 et constitue l'un des principaux défis de l'éradication de la tuberculose, en plus de la pandémie de VIH. Une étude rétrospective visant à évaluer la prise en charge clinique de la TB-MR et des caractéristiques a été menée sur 154 patients admis à l'hôpital de Kabutare, au Rwanda, entre 2009 et 2010. Les résultats de ces enquêtes peuvent être trouvés dans ce livre.
