L'objectif de l'étude a été d'acquérir des informations sur l'impact environnemental de l'exploitation minière de la bauxite et les tentatives de gestion autour des trois « zones » différentes des communautés minières de bauxite (Sangarédi, Boké, Fria) dans l'ouest de la Guinée. La Guinée, à l'image de nombreux pays en développement, de grands espoirs sur le secteur minier. Le secteur minier représente 75 à 85 % des exportations par an et figure en bonne place dans les priorités de développement du gouvernement, en témoigne le large mouvement des réformes entreprises par les autorités depuis 2010. Dans ce contexte, ces réformes visent à la fois à minimiser les risques tout en maximisant les bénéfices de l'activité. Cela implique entre autres une meilleure répartition des revenus de la mine, un strict respect des normes environnementales, pour enregistrer l'activité dans une perspective de développement durable. Pour mieux comprendre ces réformes et leur portée, cette recherche pose un diagnostic du cadre existant et des innovations des nouvelles réformes dans le contexte du développement durable. Dans cet objectif, le chercheur a mené une collecte de données, une série d'entretiens avec des personnes-ressources.
