Hydraulic jump results in sudden dissipation of flow energy by changing from supercritical flow to subcritical flow. A huge amount of energy loss takes place within the hydraulic jump. This makes hydraulic jump very useful in the dam, spillway design, etc. The energy dissipating characteristics of hydraulic jump is a function of incoming Froude number, channel bed surface, the slope of channel, etc. In the present book, the study of the characteristics of hydraulic jump on a sloping smooth rectangular channel has been reported in this book. This book is designed primarily as a reference book for PG/Ph.D. students working in the field of open channel flow. This book is divided into six chapters starting with an introduction followed by past work carried out by different researchers with a theoretical approach. The experimental studies were conducted for three different bed slopes 0.00362, 0.0152, and 0.0235 with Froude number F1 varying between 1.197 to 3.522. The study shows that the bed shear stresses are comparatively larger in the case of a sloping channel than over a horizontal channel.
