Synopsis

India is a country of villages and 72% people of India live in rural areas. Majority of these people work in informal sector and micro-enterprises. The major challenge for these enterprises is to become self-sustainable. Various studies observed that micro enterprise development need both micro-credit and other non-financial support services viz. technical, marketing and social support which will ensure their long-term success and sustainability. No specific research study was found to conceptualize the integrated approach through linkages among financial, social and enterprise development services to ensure the long-term success of micro enterprise. The study has developed a conceptual framework for an integrated micro finance system which will lead to sustainable micro enterprise development in Indian context. The scope of the present study was restricted to the beneficiaries of micro finance scheme of CASHPOR Micro Credit in three districts namely Ghazipur, Chandauli and Varanasi. Based on the empirical results of field survey, suggestions and recommendations have been provided towards an integrated micro finance system for sustainable micro enterprise development.
