Avec la d�cision de la Syrie d'adh�rer � la Convention et de d�truire ses armes, les appels lanc�s aux �tats non parties � la Convention � embo�ter le pas ont augment�. Parmi les quatre �tats non membres : Isra�l, l'�gypte, le Soudan du Sud et la Cor�e du Nord, le r�gime de Pyongyang est probablement le d�fi diplomatique le plus difficile. Une myriade de probl�mes couvrant plusieurs zones g�ographiques ont entrav� d'une mani�re ou d'une autre la mise en œuvre de la Convention et sont ainsi illustr�s par des �tudes de cas. Malgr� les d�fis vifs et parfois inondants auxquels la Convention et sa mise en œuvre sont confront�es, les r�alisations cumul�es de la Convention et de son organisme fiduciaire l'emportent de loin sur ces obstacles. Les d�fis repr�sentent toutefois une plus grande opportunit� pour les �tats membres de la Convention et l'Organisation pour l'interdiction des armes chimiques (OIAC) d'aller de l'avant vers une mise en œuvre sans faille de la convention et un monde exempt d'armes chimiques.

Despite the vivid and sometimes inundating challenges facing the Convention and its implementation, the cumulated achievements of the Convention and its trustee agency far outweigh such hindrances.
