Synopsis
La technologie de télédétection a été activement utilisée pour obtenir des informations en temps réel sur divers aspects de l'agriculture. Actuellement, il existe une variété de satellites en orbite offrant une couverture régulière et continue du globe. La disponibilité commerciale des données satellitaires et la participation active du secteur privé dans ce domaine ont rendu possible l'application de cette haute technologie pour une nouvelle génération de gestion des ressources agricoles. Le Maharashtra est un État grand et prospère avec de riches ressources naturelles et une grande variabilité des caractéristiques du terrain et de l'écosystème associé.Cependant, le système traditionnel de prévision de la production végétale présente plusieurs problèmes tels que le manque d'informations en temps opportun, les variations dans les chiffres statistiques, le manque de disponibilité des données et difficile à stocker et à récupérer. En d'autres termes, une approche scientifique, optimale et fiable comme la télédétection, le système d'information géographique (SIG) et la géomatique est extrêmement nécessaire pour effectuer des estimations de culture avant la récolte et répondre à son tour aux exigences des administrateurs et des planificateurs.
