Rice is the major staple food for most of Asia including India. Basmati rice is a unique varietal group which differed itself from other aromatic rice. At present the major obstacle in yield of rice is infestation of weeds. In rice the main weeds are Echinochloa crusgalli, Cynodon dactylon and Cyperus rotundus. In India there is scarcity of labor, the farmers are fail to remove weeds by hand weeding at early stage due to the morphological similarities between grassy weeds and rice seedlings. In present days, the chemical weed control is suitable to control weeds in comparison to hand weeding. These herbicides are used as pre and post emergence in the stagnation of water for weed killing.
