There is an increase in the number of healthcare providers in Nigerian General Hospitals yearning for the computerization of health information and care delivery. However, there is a shortage of knowledge of the opinions of the diverse health care providers who would ensure the successful implementation and meaningful use of health information technology in these hospitals. This book explores the perceived challenges and prospects from the perspective of doctors, through their knowledge and experience, that is associated with the implementation of the electronic health record at the General Hospitals where they practice. This study also sought their views on the benefits of the system when implemented. With an interpretive case study research approach, empirical material was collected from doctors at General Hospitals in three States in Nigeria using informal phone discussions.
