Synopsis

Department of Geology, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati has organized National Conference on ‘Basin dynamics, Facies architecture and Paleoclimate’ under the aegis of 34th Convention of Indian Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) during 19-21 December, 2017. Dr. Ashok K. Srivastava, Professor, Department of Geology, SGB Amravati University Amravati was the Convener. Five keynote lectures have been delivered focusing on the critical, essential and fundamental topics of earth sciences by well known personalities of their field. Two parallel technical sessions were arranged during the convention because of large number of abstracts received. The total 64 papers were presented out of 94 during the two days convention. The ‘Young Sedimentologist Award’ was organized. For this, three students were participated but the panel could not find suitable candidate by IAS. Field trip had been arranged in Salbardi area, located about 60 km in the north of Amravati having good exposures of Upper Gondwana and Lameta successions. The field was well enjoyed by all the 45 participants.
