Synopsis
Au XXe siècle, le drainage des terres agricoles a entraîné une augmentation considérable de la production végétale en Europe et en Amérique du Nord. Toutefois, le manque de connaissance de ses principes et pratiques connexes dans d'autres régions du monde a entraîné la stagnation de la production et la famine. Les méthodes et pratiques agricoles traditionnelles sont toujours répandues en Afrique, en Amérique latine, en Inde et en Asie, qui constituent plus de 50 % de la zone mondiale de consommation alimentaire où peu de terres agricoles sont conçues avec des compétences en ingénierie et un drainage. Ceci, avec l'explosion démographique mondiale imminente et les impacts du changement climatique, constituent des menaces pour la suffisance alimentaire mondiale. Ce livre fournit les connaissances fondamentales sur les sols problématiques et les caractéristiques des cultures dans le drainage des terres ; réponse des cultures tropicales de base au drainage ; théorie et détails des équations de drainage ; plan de drainage simplifié où l'excès d'eau provient des précipitations locales, systèmes de pompe et pratiques qui pourraient être utilisés pour différents sols et cultures pour un bon système de drainage agricole pour augmenter la production des cultures.
