Cette étude vise à comprendre l'effet de modération du besoin de croissance dans la relation entre les caractéristiques de l'emploi (variété de compétences, identité de tâche, importance de la tâche, autonomie et rétroaction) et l'engagement affectif des employés au sein de la Direction générale indonésienne des douanes et accises (DGCE), une agence du ministère des Finances de l'Indonésie. Les résultats indiquent que la force des besoins de croissance modère la relation entre les caractéristiques agrégées du travail, la variété des compétences, la signification des tâches et la rétroaction avec un engagement affectif. L'autonomie n'est pas modérée de manière significative par la croissance et la force. Au lieu de cela, l'autonomie a un effet positif direct sur l'engagement affectif. La variable restante, l'identité de la tâche, n'a pas d'effet significatif sur l'engagement affectif, que ce soit un effet direct ou indirect par son interaction avec la force du besoin de croissance. Les implications de gestion des résultats, des limites et des suggestions pour les recherches futures sont discutées à la fin de l'étude.
