The purpose of this book is to introduce the students, researchers, and engineers in Water Resources Engineering to the process of interactive, educational design of spillway structures with hydraulic jump stilling basins using LabView programming and Geometrical modelling. The first chapter of the book deals with the theoretical background of the hydraulics used for the design of the spillway structure and its stilling basin. Chapter two covers geometrical modelling basics used for the parametric design of the Bezier curves and surfaces which are used to define the geometry of the structure and its stilling basin. Chapter three covers the details of an interactive, educational software design using LabView. The interactive LabView program enables the designer to change the hydraulic design parameters very easily and quickly to obtain more reliable and more accurate 2D and 3D designs of the spillway structure and its stilling basin. When using this software for class room demonstration, the environment of the program and its visual artifacts enabled the students to enhance their understandings regarding the design of spillway and, energy dissipating structures.
