This book mainly focuses on introducing recent advances in the field of image segmentation techniques for noisy images in the field of image processing. The text book contains introduction to the problem and detailed literature survey on various image denoising schemes, and classical edge detectors that are to be adopted during edge detection from noisy images. This text book proposes two-stage nonlinear filters for noisy edge detection called Pixon based Image Denoising Scheme based on pixons, and color edge detectors for noisy images for detecting the edges from a noisy image, based on nonlinear prefiltering scheme and block-by-block rotations. This text book also proposes one-stage nonlinear filters called Nonlinear noise suppression edge detection scheme for noisy images, and Nonlinear robust edge detector for noisy images without doing any regularization for efficient edge detection from noisy images. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms with other methods in the literature. This book is very much helpful and useful for graduate, post graduate students and research scholars to gain the knowledge in the field of Digital Image Processing.
