Through the land, air and water of the earth provides cradle for the existence of life and the growth of civilization, sometimes they also cause disasters in the form of earthquakes, when earthquake occurs, the earthquake waves travel through different rock or soil media and reach the foundation layer causing the structure to vibrate.The change in response of the structure considering the soil-structure interaction, particularly for loose soils, is considered significant when compared to the structure assumed rigid at the base. So, the behavior of soil or rock at the foundation level under the action of seismic forces is the most important factor to be considered before designing any civil structure.The destruction and the loss caused by earthquakes can be almost beyond comprehension in case of an impact of the earthquake in and around urban environment.Keeping in view of the above facts and the basic interrelation between earthquake, urban environment, soil-structure interaction and damage of buildings, the Authors developed the methodology to study terrain evaluation and seismic response of structure in urban environs using Satellite Remote Sensing techniques and MATLAB software.
