Synopsis

The piece of work title Understanding Local Public Administration in Cameroon: A comparative study for the understanding of the evolution of Local public administration in Cameroon and to know why there is the lack of effective implementation of Local Public Administration despite constitutional provision? This piece of work shall comprise of data collection and data analysis. Findings have shown that despite the materialisation of the decentralisation policy, Local Public Administration is still trapped in a State dilemma in the provision of fundamental services and the implication of decentralisation on Local Development was examine through the assessment of the performance of local authorities in the Cameroonian municipalities. Thus, the author recommended that there should be a functional and genuine political commitment on the part of the central government to implement all the facets of the decentralization policies to ensure the effectiveness of local public administration in Cameroon.
