Synopsis

Biomedical waste is the discarded materials from the health care establishments. Rate of generation of medical waste is increasing and the management of the waste is becoming the problem. The biomedical waste is transported by the biomedical waste transportation worker to the treatment facility from the hospitals. Occupational health is the important factor for the workers. Occupational health assessment helps to study the health of workers in an occupation; the problems and the effect of the job on the workers health are studied. Biomedical waste handling workers work with the medical waste, out of total biomedical waste 10-20% of waste is harmful to human. There is no study available on occupational health of biomedical waste handling workers. This study is an attempt with an aim to assess occupational health of biomedical waste transportation workers in Chandrapur city of Central India.
