This book covers gross anatomical and histological study of duck. This study would help to physiologists, pathologists and poultry scientists for effective production as well as disease control regime. The present book will explain about gross, histomorphology, histochemical, ultrastructural and biochemical parameters of duck reproductive system especially during laying period. Histologically, the ovary was covered by single layer of squamous epithelium with patches of cuboidal epithelium. The lamina epithelialis mucosae of the magnum, uterus and vagina were lined by pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium while infundibulum and isthmus were lined by simple columnar ciliated epithelium. Primary, secondary and tertiary mucosal folds were observed in oviduct, while the tertiary folds were less in magnum and vagina than the other parts of oviduct. The height of lamina epithelialis mucosae of oviduct was significantly higher in ducks. Histochemically, the perivitelline membrane and basement membrane of ovary and isthmus showed intense PAS positive reaction in duck. Ultrastructurally, the scanning electron microscopy of magnum of ducks was studied.
